Upton Warren roosting

10/08/13
Again, i have to apologize for the lack of posting during the last few weeks, a return to education, a holiday and a load of birding time has again put me over a month behind on the blog work. The one good thing about that though is i have a fair old bit to write about again!

Dropping into Upton Warren for the roost i was met by a friend, who immediately put me onto a stunning immaculate juvenile Mediterranean Gull!
A stunning bird, and in as fresh plumage as you can get a juvenile, with the bird having not started its moult yet!

A juvenile Cuckoo was also seen briefly, which was nice to see as i don't usually have much luck with them but the main attention was on the waders, the most uncommon of which was a juvenile Ruff. In addition, Oystercatcher, Lapwing, 5 Green Sand, 2 Common Sand and 21 Curlew were showing.

As the light dropped a Little Owl appeared on its usual perch!
