I also think it's a Broad Bodied Chaser (Chaser is easier to spell than libbu-thingy ;) )

Could your mystery creature have been the female banded demoiselle?

If you're serious about dragonflies and damselflies, then I can recommend 'Field Guide to the Dragonflies and Damselflies of Great Britain and Ireland', by Steve Brooks.

You should be able to get it from Amazon. I'm quite new to dragonflies etc, but I'm finding this book to be really helpful.

Chaser seems to be the common name now. In Wales, I was using an old book of my Dad's and that had a load of silly names in it too.
